The House passed ESSB 5263, which is an important step toward remedying the injustice of the state "felony bar" statute in suits where police wrongly inflicted injury or caused death.

The “felony bar” allows police to block recovery of damages for injuries and deaths they cause by alleging the person they harmed was committing a felony. They are not required to charge or prove the crime.
