VICTORY: The senate passed SB 5263, which is a step toward remedying the injustice of the state "felony bar" statute in suits where police wrongly inflicted injury or caused death.

The “felony bar” allows police to defend themselves against lawsuits by using an accusation that person they harmed was committing a felony. This leaves people who have been hurt by police and have not been convicted of a crime with no legal recourse for their injuries.
