BREAKING: just signed the bill to restore voting rights to people on probation and parole. In 1844, NJ passed a law taking away the right to vote based on a criminal conviction. Today—175 years later—the stroke of a pen returned that right to 83,000 people. Watch:

One year ago we lost our friend Babs Siperstein — a trailblazer for transgender equality. Even in her absence, Babs is still changing the lives of transgender and LGBTQ New Jerseyans each and every day. Thank you for paving the way. 🏳️‍⚧️

  3. This administration has targeted immigrants from the start. The growing list of banned countries shows this policy’s racist, ruthless underpinnings. Our vision is of an America that’s welcoming, inclusive, and sees value in everyone’s contributions, no matter where they’re from.

Today we honor civil rights hero Fred Korematsu. In 1942, Fred refused to go to the government's prison camps for Japanese Americans. After he was arrested and convicted of defying the government order, he appealed his case all the way to the Supreme Court.

In discussing the application of policy, attorney Karen Thompson said that we need to make sure that what we have now actually is able to be maintained and supported. At the court level this legislation is great, but we need to give it teeth.

Immigrants contribute to the state and our communities. NJ Immigrant Trust Directive allows New Jerseyans to live without fear by building trust between law enforcement & immigrant communities so anyone regardless of status can seek help.
