    A report released in March by , and ACLU of Maine found systemic problems at the Boston Asylum Office that violate asylum seekers’ due process rights. Now, the Biden administration is considering a rule to put even more authority in the broken asylum system.

    The Legislature had a chance to end some of the abuses described in the investigation by passing LD 1479 and chose not to. We hope future legislatures will not make this same mistake.
