We have vocally opposed the prescription monitoring program in lots of states, and in particular law enforcement access to it. Here in ME, when law enforcement wanted to expand access to the PMP in 2013, we stopped it.
That's what's happening! People w/serious health issues are being subjected to endless drug screens, pill counts, forced to sign contracts that strip them of 4th amendment rights, can only use 1 pharmacy w/direct threat of not receiving needed medicine if they don't comply!
People are dying. They are left in agony as physicians will no longer prescribe needed medicine due to DEA overreach. Perhaps @ACLU is unaware of the scope of this issue. I'm without needed medicine because I had my Rosa Parks bus moment with a 'pain contract' where I was forced to sign away my 4th amendment rights to receive needed medicine. @ACLU in SF told me that it's a free country & I should just go find another doctor then. THERE ARE NONE!
Fact that law enforcement has access at all is criminal in & of itself. The fact that a group of addiction 'specialists' writing PROP, along with Legislators with NO medical background, are dictating medical protocol for pts w/serious illnesses and injuries, is criminal as well.
People from every state need help! Not just Maine.
I asked @ACLUMaine how to get the national ACLU to consider our situation as they told at the national call center that state referrals were necessary for the national level. So far, Maine ACLU has not responded to the question either.
