    If calls a special session for new prisons w/o offering legislators the ability to do anything about why the old prisons failed, then NOTHING will change. Buildings alone will NOT address the DOJ concerns. We need real leaders who will.

    Gov. Ivey calls for special legislation session beginning September 27 to "tackle the state's prison infrastructure challenges." Infrastructure should include prison management, training, culture and rooting out corruption. But it will likely only include construction.

    This is a great move forward. Now, Biden must extend clemency to all in this group and truly deliver on his promises. If he does not act, as many as 4,000 people would return to prison — being one of the largest acts of incarceration in the US to date.
