    There is no way to justify police pepper spraying a 9 year-old. We called on the Mayor to take urgent, systemic action in the wake of Daniel Prude’s killing, and we'll do it again: Rochester police have no business serving as the first responder in a mental health crisis.

    Deborah is an established civil rights attorney, scholar, and teacher. She is also the first Black national board president in ACLU history. She began her career as a legal fellow in the ACLU Racial Justice Program, and now comes full circle to lead the national board.
