While Border Patrol agents are holding kids in cages and blocking asylum seekers, guess what border representatives are doing about it? Making changes? No. Representatives from both parties voted to commend for their hard work and “professionalism.”

If Congress is serious about increasing school safety, it should address a critical shortage of counselors and support personnel in schools, and work to end the policing and criminalization of our children.

Kudos to legal observers, many of whom are trained volunteers of all ages, mostly women, giving it 24/7. Their hard work under very harsh and strenuous conditions is what civil liberties work is all about. Warriors for the preservation of constitutional rights.

People across America are rejecting the death penalty. Bipartisan movements made up of racial justice groups, faith communities, and conservatives are fighting to end this deeply flawed and problematic practice. The DOJ is on the wrong side of history again.

Under no circumstances should the government be allowed to execute people. The federal death penalty system is broken, racist, ineffective, and cruel — this move will set our country back decades.

The settlement reached between the FTC and Facebook underscores the need for comprehensive privacy legislation that includes strong enforcement mechanisms and the right for consumers to sue privacy-violating companies.

This settlement is woefully inadequate. It fails to put meaningful limits on how Facebook collects and uses our data, shields the company from responsibility for "unknown" violations, and holds no one personally liable for years of privacy violations and misleading statements.

With this ruling, the court recognized — as it did with the first asylum ban — that the Trump administration was attempting an unlawful end run around Congress. We will continue fighting the draconian measures put forth in the administration’s war on asylum-seekers.
