People with criminal records are routinely blocked from:
Stable housing
Medical benefits
Employment
Financial support
Food assistance
Getting a driver's license

And it doesn't make sense. You want them to have learned their lesson and when released become honest members of society. How can they if they are blocked from becoming honest members of society.

Stupid mistakes shouldn't follow you like that either, but that's not reality. You can become a felon by forgetting to pay a speeding ticket, get arrested, pay it, and forever be a felon for a mistake at 18 years old (maybe younger). Then denied housing and employment as a felon.

Question: If somebody pays their "debt to society" by serving their sentence. Why does the punishment last a lifetime in regards to everything else? No voting, no work, no food stamps, refusal of legitamate business loans to become a leader in the community. It just never ends.
