The US needs international election monitors our elections are far from safe and secure with no way to confirm our vote was actually counted.

There is no guarantee that a vote cast by mail will get counted either. It may not arrive, or it can get disqualified for any number of trivial or discriminatory reasons, and the voter isn't there to advocate for themselves. You're at the mercy of local officials.
