Did you know @GreyhoundBus regularly allows Border Patrol to board its buses and conduct immigration raids?

Andres Sosa Segura was on a @GreyhoundBus from Montana to Washington when @CBP agents boarded. The only Latinx-appearing passenger, agents demanded Andres's “papers.” Later, he was detained without access to a phone for several hours before release.https://www.aclu.org/press-releases/washington-man-illegally-detained-border-patrol-spokanes-greyhound-bus-station-sues …

Mohaned Elshieky was traveling from Spokane to Portland when @CBP agents boarded his @GreyhoundBus and interrogated him for 20 minutes. They repeatedly harassed him and claimed that he was lying when he produced his immigration documents.https://twitter.com/MohanadElshieky/status/1089631310606266368 …

This morning, ICE agents got on my Greyhound bus that was headed from Spokane to Portland. They walked around before they asked me and few others to step outside and took my documents and interrogated me for around 20 mins then claimed my papers were fake and that I’m “illegal”.

It isn’t possible to tell someone’s immigration status by looking at them — this policy requires racially profiling @GreyhoundBus customers. Border Patrol agents draw conclusions based on the color of passengers’ skin and the sound of their voice.

As a private business, @GreyhoundBus has a Fourth Amendment right to deny Border Patrol permission to board and search its buses without probable cause or warrant.

For more than a year, we have been urging @GreyhoundBus to protect its customers from Border Patrol searches, but the company is refusing to issue a policy that would do so.

So, we’re taking it to the top. Greyhound is owned by @FirstGroupplc, a multi-national transport group based in the UK.

By collaborating with Border Patrol, @GreyhoundBus is complicit in human rights violations and the Trump administration’s cruel and inhumane deportation machine. @FirstGroupplc should hold @GreyhoundBus accountable for violating its code of ethics.
