My son was challenged on citizenship in Michigan today. He said he had to “sign a bunch of papers” and then was given a ballot. My questions: If he had ANY legal past, no matter how minor, would he have stayed? If he wasn’t white, would they have given him the ballot afterward?

Was it a provisional ballot, or was it a real ballot?

He comes from an election savvy family. He says it was a regular ballot.

Then why extra paperwork? I only ask bc I also had to fill extra stuff out, and the poll workers SAID "oh but it's a regular ballot blah blah," meanwhile it was clearly a provisional ballot.

I wasn't w him. He's big, fit guy (6'7"), engineer, knows to ask whether provisional or not. (And ppl/things he supported were approved.) Bigger story is voter suppression happens in every state, not just KS, GA, FL. He had race, size, education in his favor,

What was their actual basis for doing so, given that naturalized citizens are obviously able to vote?
-
I am curious as well since it is only 1 person, every AZ, naturalized citizen's voter registration is checked against DHS records b4 election, and the person is contacted if further verification is required
-
Just one person? It's just one person in this particular tweet. Voter suppression is out of control.
-
I was only referring to the one person in this one tweet.

What are YOU people up to? Naturalized or US Citizens do have the right to vote already. Only illegal aliens, aliens on VISA or temporary status are NOT allowed to vote. Delete this tweet and start over. Lawyers don't know everything.
