Instead of tearing down a piece of history, why not add to it? It looks like a beautiful memorial, why not make it more beautiful and find a way to add the Star of David? Add the star and crescent. Instead of tearing it down, build new ones, bring people together. Bridge the gap.
-
I know everyone is up in arms, but the country was founded on religion. Why not embrace our differences. Bring us together, show that religion doesn't equal hate. If you're using a God to preach hate or be hateful, you're doing it wrong.
-
The country was founded on the freedom of, and freedom from religion.

It would be fantastic if people would stop assuming all military members are Christian and that the cross is somehow a neutral religious symbol that can represent all religions

-
Nobody assumes that, and this memorial does not claim that all military members are Christian. It is not supposed to represent all religions either.
-
So next time there’s a draft, just draft Christians. I’d be ok with that.
-
You might not like who they're drafted to fight against, kid.
-
Couldn't give a shit who they're drafted against if it means less Christians in the world.
-
It might mean less of everyone else, sweetheart. ;)pic.twitter.com/K4EIugqmJe

I mean, there's more than 5.5 billion non-Christians in the world, so

If it's on government land, it does need removing. Any churches willing to accommodate such a memorial?

Thats like saying Arlington Cemetery isnt a place for crosses either.
-
Arlington is not just crosses though. The service member has the option of putting their religious symbol on their stone. This one uses one religious symbol to represent all service members that died in WW1 which gives a false representation of those who died.
-
Yes, but one could imply the cross is a memorial for all those of the faith that fell in WW1.
-
Also, Im not comfortable with tax money being used to upkeep 1 specific religious symbol. If it were maybe modified to have a ton if other religious symbols around it and presented as a unity of religions under service then I'd feel more comfortable with it.

Government should have left it privately held. Took long enough. Move it.
