I believe everyone has a right to a fair shot at living a comfortable/reasonable life. I believe also that it was one of our main ideals. We fucked up somewhere.

America was formed because people decided to live the way they wanted outside of the influence of parliament and the Church of England. Unfortunately, that didn't mean freedom. That meant whoever fought their way to the top got to make the rules. America is a social experiment.
-
Sadly, during that time we also committed mass genocide, which really confuses me on to what the overall moral skew and ideals we really have.
-
Well, there's never been a collective consensus of what's moral and immoral. This country has been one big fucked up, uneducated, reactionary cesspool of violence, racism, ignorance and tribalism.
-
Sad, but true. My morals lie in giving everyone a fair shake. Screw it up enough times or with one severely detrimental action, and you can kindly gtfo, regardless of color, origin, etc... I think it's time we start taking notes from other countries.
-
Haha, depends on the country. In the Philippines, the head of state is issuing death penalties for drug dealers.

They need to come in legally. It’s a fight over open borders vs closed borders.
-
Coming to a point of entry and requesting asylum, as the people in the caravan want to do, IS the legal way to do it.
-
Um people interviewed in that have said that they were kicked out for violent attempted murder and are coming in regardless of the law. How is that peacefully coming through a point of entry?
-
Bullshit. They're FLEEING violence in their countries that have been destabilized by OUR gov's policies in the region. Stop listening to Trump/FOX propaganda and read a book. This is a good starting point: Latin America: From Colonization to Globalization by Noam Chomsky
-
They could have stayed in Mexico. They offered protection. Also, again, there is video footage of one of them saying they were kicked out for attempted murder. Also don't argue by advertising a book.

Serious question: Why shouldn't we have Decent detention centers for ppl seeking asylum? Its sure better than they have now. And then they be assigned a part of the country (or perhaps military service). We are a rich country. Let's do WJWD
-
They don't need to be detained. Most show up to their court dates.https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/fox-news-host-criticized-saying-asylum-seekers-dont-show-court-1157616 …
-
But if they dont have anywhere to go before their court date?
-
Idk what they tend do but the asylum process can take years. And detention is def not better for them bc it becomes harder to access legal counsel.https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/research/access-counsel-immigration-court …

Thank you
