Housing lenders do to. Unbeknownst to us at the time, my husband and I had to wait until I was back to work from maternity leave before the bank would close on our home. They take the risk that we don't know the law, and we didn't.

This is a pervasive problem and a violation of the Fair Housing Act. HUD and the DOJ has successfully sued many banks that discriminate in this way. I'm very sorry that this happened to you. It shouldn't have.https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/pregnancy-a-disability-hud-finds-mortgage-lenders-deny-loans-to-new-expectant-moms/2014/09/16/13635560-3dab-11e4-b0ea-8141703bbf6f_story.html?utm_term=.cbdaf88cf166 …

if you choose to get pregnant have a kid it will be less productive for the company so they find someone else you won't get pregnant. pregnancy is a privilege in the age of birth control Andover population

Let me guess, you're also anti-choice?
-
Nope, I'm pro choice 100%. I just don't understand why we're incentivizing having kids when there's 7 billion people, and not a sustainable supply of resources.

Nearly sixteen years ago I prepared to go back to work- and I was told my job was no longer available but I could work in an office. It was against the law- but what it would cost to fight- and working for a small business as a merchandiser my evaluations were subjective...

What employers are still doing it?
-
Too many to list here. Our current pregnancy litigation docket includes AT&T Mobility, Frontier Airlines, the Pacific Maritime Association, and local police departments. A class action lawsuit is pending against Wal-Mart, and a jury just awarded $185m against AutoZone.

And this follow-up from
@nytimes. Anyone who claims to be "pro-life" or "pro-family" should be outraged at this reality.https://nyti.ms/2AloJs1

Employers have the right to decide who they hire and fire. Period.
-
Not if those decisions are discriminatory, they don't. Even the most conservative members of SCOTUS don't dispute that.
-
What you call discrimination, I call discernment. The left hijacks terms to suit their agenda. It's not working anymore. Common sense is making a comeback. Buckle up.

You have to be able to prove that people are being fired for pregnancy. Employers know how to document poor performance to justify termination.

There is no federal power to force anyone to hire a pregnant woman who then can't come to work.
