FACT: It IS legal under US and international law to present yourself at the border and seek asylum.https://twitter.com/SpoxDHS/status/1054833087710986240 …

Stopping the caravan is not just about national security or preventing crime, it is also about national sovereignty and the rule of law. Those who seek to come to America must do so the right and legal way.

Asylum indicates escape from violence and prosecution, if so then what are they escaping from

No I know, that's the definition of asylum, I just want to know where these people are being prosecuted to where they can be allowed to seek asylum in the US, if they aren't, then they haven't a right to claim "asylum"

Entirely endorse! Moreover, intervening in a foreign country to prevent individuals for lawfully making lawful asylum applications is on shaky moral and legal grounds—to put it mildly.

The "rule of law" is important here. United States immigration officers also need to respect the rule of law by faithfully processing the asylum claims of those who make them, whether they claim asylum affirmatively or defensively.

“Although the Refugee Convention was agreed in Geneva, it is considered incorrect to refer to it as "the Geneva Convention" because that term is more widely understood as referring to any of four treaties regulating armed conflict.”

Oh my gosh, you're so close here! It's actually at a port/point of entry, not just "the border"...but we totally get why you'd want to confuse people on this important detail 👍

Once the Asylum seeker steps foot on the ground of another nation such as Mexico they can't go to another border/country and ask for asylum as they are no longer in fear for their lives.
