Courts in Midwest Kansas like to rack up failure to appear charges. My niece is in a county jail for six months while pregnant and is facing more time in another county. She sent the court a letter telling them of her situation and from what I know they have a warrant on her.

It's a little difficult to make your court date when you're in jail. Another trick at least years back was to change the court date repeatedly and they would claim they sent a letter to inform of the change of date. My friend would call weekly to verify his court date due to this
