I hope their opponents use this against them whether in a primary or general election, I hope their votes destroy their careers

Thank goodness. It's sad that it even had to come to a vote. These men and women are heroes.

This is great and all, but how screwed is our system that a freaking comedian like
@jonstewartbooks has to shame politicians into doing the right thing and helping the men and women who ran into collapsing buildings, dug through rubble, and inhaled toxic debris to save peopleThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Why did it have to come to this? How many showed up when we needed them most?! How many continue to show up FOR US at our darkest hour? Health care is the VERY LEAST we can do FOR THEM. We simply cannot keep turning our backs on the very ppl who keep us safe! Or did we forget?

The first responders were there in seconds to save lives. It took eighteen years for Washington to save theirs.

I remember Christine Todd Whitman who was then heading the EPA declaring the air was safe at ground zero. I remember thinking - no fucking way. It's impossible when so many hazardous materials were pulverized. Don't know what we can do. But, money isn't enough.
