"Philip Alpers, a Sydney University gun policy analyst, said the tragedy appeared to be the worst mass shooting in Australia since a lone gunman killed 35 people in Tasmania state in 1996, prompting the nation to introduce tough gun laws." 2nd one since 1996.

Love all the idiots trying to point out mass shootings being impossible in AU and think all guns are banned. But at the same time not batting an eye to the endless killings in the states.

You do realize the gross majority of Suicide attempts with methods other than guns and slashing wrists survive?? Hmmmmm.... wonder why.. that’s a thinker. And your logic excuses the 11k plus homicides via gun.

But Australia has strict gun control.
-
Yes, it’s the worst mass shooting in 20 YEARS

-
But people keep telling us outlawing guns is the answer to the gun violence problem.
-
People are getting murdered all day everyday in this country. Check the stats in Australia

-
Not arguing that. I'm arguing that the elimination of a tool, be it guns, knives, hammers, does not solve the problem. See London's exploding murder-by-knife rate. Taking guns out of the hands of the law abiding solves little. Bad guys aren't going to follow the law.
-
Also, since we're talking stats, check out how non-gun related crime such as home roberies and attacks on women we up after private ownership of guns was outkawed. In Australia.
