“Cultural appropriation” is an interesting term, I think that people should have the right to wear clothing of a different culture, I live in Sri Lanka and find it flattering when a non-local wears a traditional Sri Lankan outfit, America needs to chill ;-)

I so agree! I live in Kerala and wear saris and mundu neerath when I feel like it. Chill America!!!
-
The Japanese feel the same way. They encourage non-Japanese to wear kimono.
-
My son and his wife just returned from Tokyo and brought me a lovely kimono. I love it!!! And wear it too and I'm black. Nothing wrong at all.

Comfortable, attractive and swishy!

Lol of course she would wear it again
She doesn't care to get it -
She does get it—she gets that real diversity is sharing the beautiful things others have contributed to the world.

Shut up. White people taking over cultures has been offensive since they started doing it. But your white privilege thinks it’s diversity. It’s not.

White people don’t appreciate other cultures. That’s the problem.

It's bad form not to note in your bio that you're engaging in parody.

Wearing the outfit didn’t offend me (she looked great) but the group photo with the bowing hand gestures was more offensive to me.
-
What’s offensive about the posture? You guys are intolerant
-
Offensive? Not! Buy a ticket travel outside US....get some culture...

I have no issues with her wearing the dress. This is the attitude that kicked off the debate tho. Asian Americans are sick of being stereotyped. The "Papa Bless" thing doesn't ring true or was, in any case, used to cue the stereotypical pose.pic.twitter.com/3hfiiwgGYS

Seriously? We have the
emoji being sent all over the place - they weren’t bowing. They are kids for fuckssake. -
That emojii is actually "high five" though many mistakenly use it as 'prayers'. I sort of cringe when I see it on responses to death or sickness notices.
-
Really? Interesting! Definitely could use an emoji crib sheet.
