one school locked the doors, the students keeled in the hallway

Is that not a fire code violation?
-
Sure is
-
Did anyone get video or photos of the locked doors? This should be reported.

Dozens of photos, and a more full story. It was Booker T. Washington HS in Atlanta.

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/atlanta/students-at-atlanta-high-school-kneel-to-protest-gun-violence/715966930 … - school spinning it that the kneeling protest was the kids idea, but only after they were told they'd be expelled if they went outside.

Expelled? Or suspended? There is a very big difference in the two.

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/378344-students-at-atlanta-high-school-take-a-knee-to-protest-gun-violence … school doors were locked and students were kept inside and 'asked to comply' with this 'safety precaution' - So neither suspension nor expulsion but not allowed to walk out, either.

It's fitting that her name is Rosa, Rosa Parks took a stand long before this young women's time but the sentiment then and now are not lost! Stand up and be proud you did!
-
I thought the same thing!

I wish our son had her courage. Also in NJ. His school threatened suspension, nobody walked out. We promised him we had his back but he was too afraid of the social blowback. Heavy red district.

He has told us that he has to lie about "liking" Trump, because he will get "beaten up" if he tells the truth about how he feels. I suspect he isn't just being melodramatic. Knowing his classmates' parents....? He's probably right.

I don't doubt it. They are insane. Which is why I find it so infuriating when it is suggested that we should be reaching out to these people. A) they can't be reached and B) I don't want them on my side.

You are not forgotten Rosa. Your voice was heard loud & clear & we are proud of you.

It's so touching to see her free mind & independent spirit. It can be so hard at that age to be brave and to take a stand that challenges the norm in a serious way. What a special person. Blessings, peace, & joy to this young woman
