Our students can do both. We need both more empathy in our lives and common sense gun violence prevention laws.

And now it’s the students fault that another was able to access such weapons and to shoot up a school cause he had “mental health issues” which could’ve been prevented “with a hug”?!?!pic.twitter.com/B9GuZgiV5v
-
It's not their fault for that. But let's not forget the students in FL said the shooter was bullied a lot. If you don't think bullying is a problem, tell that to the families of the kids who committed suicide because of how they're treated at school.
-
But let's be honest, the parents of the students who are bullies need to get their butt in gear too.
-
Yes. There are many pieces to this that need to be addressed! This isn’t just a one and done solution.
-
Absolutely not. I'm all for students doing what they feel is right, but some have to hold themselves accountable as well. And it comes back to the parents failing to be parents. Just letting them do whatever they want and not paying attention to what goes on in their lives.

Nice idea, until you stop to realize that the underlying message is that if you are nice enough, you can prevent school shootings... which means that these kids at these schools were not nice enough to prevent it? This is victim blaming.

Students should feel free to do neither, either, or both. But I think caution has to be taken to avoid the implication that students can stop (or should have stopped) a mentally unstable kid with a gun. This problem will take more to solve.

One more thing for the kids to do while the adults do nothing. Shameful.....

All well and good. We should ALL be more kind. But that won't stop mass shootings. Let's not blame the victims for not being "nice" enough. The problem is the access to the damn guns.

Nope, sorry. No gun, no murders. Simple.

yes....and I have heard that people are not allowed to legally own bombs...which is why two of them have caused an outcry where the 30,000 gun deaths a year haven't. And knives do kill. But not 58 people at once or 30,000 a year.
