A tragedy could have been avoided if Sheriff and FBI did their job. That is the reality period. That's where the blame lies.

Thurston High (Oregon) school shooter was reported to have stated "I'm going to be famous, now" at his first court appearance after the shooting.

Thanx to the narrative. These are usually regional issues but thanx to mass media and the power of suggestion, copycats are everywhere.

ABC glosses over authorities' non response to warnings, and slow response to shooting by calling response "swift." Gimme a break..

So the definition of swift is running to the scene and then waiting until the emergency dies down or all people die whichever comes first?

sorry but with the sheriffs that stayed out side they are guilty for not going right in and saving the kids and taking out the gun man.Only the police went right in and got the gun man.

Man, it'a getting tougher and tougher to be a kid. Especially when your representatives don't represent you. I think the NRA wants to tie up police and the FBI to fix the problem. There are easier and cheaper ways to fix this problem. But it requires a hard look and and talk.
-
And those easier and cheaper ways would be?
-
Anything, like talking and trying something different. Nothing that's been done so far has affected mass shooting. We know lots of things that don't work. It's gotten to a point that anything different is a better plan than the same 'ole, same 'ole.
-
But the only things that are being proposed, are things that have been tried before.

How about mandatory insurance for each gun owned. It could help defray costs of medical or funeral of any particular gun used to harm someone? We are required to have insurance 24/7/365, for each motor vehicle we own because they can kill or do big damage to property.
-
Actually, no, insurance is only required when a motor vehicle is operated on public roads. There are similar requirements in some states (if the laws have not changed) for carry permit holders to have some form of insurance. Doesn't do anything about criminal misuse of guns.
-
Insurance is required in my state to register any motor vehicle. People here usually drive on public roads to get to off to get to off road driving. Nothing known will do anything about criminal misuse of guns. The gun owner's insurance can help with the damage the gun does.
-
Registration is required only to operate on public roads. Buy a classic car and put it in your garage, then spend a couple years restoring it. No insurance or registration required until you put it on the road. Farm trucks need no insurance or registration if they stay on farms.
