I am a lesbian, married, and former catholic. But any church has the right to enforce their own rules. She had to know this would happen.

this has nothing to do with rules. this is pure discrimination based on sexual preferences. catholic hypocrisy!
-
get real, when she was married to a man this same catholic school wouldn’t have fired her and probably put the picture on the schools website. again catholic hypocrisy!
-
How is that hypocritical when the church does not believe in same sex marriage?

Keyword: “Catholic” school. Honestly she, nor anyone else should be surprised by this. I’m sure she will find a nice teaching job somewhere else. Lots of schools needs teachers.
-
If you think it is a “choice” then it legally can be discriminated against. If you think it is genetic, like race then it cannot be legally discriminated against. Given the way current anti-discrimination law is written.
-
True, that’s the only argument I can see someone like that have against an employer like that. I’m assuming this school is considering that she “made a choice” and therefore they fired her due to disagreement with her morals.
-
Agreed. So if it is shown that it is genetic and not a choice then I don’t think they could discriminate based on sexuality. I don’t think. But again I am sure ignorant when it comes to how the law is applied and well.... there is a SCOTUS case pending still on a related topic
-
That will be hard to prove. Scientifically I have not heard of anything that indicates a person’s sexuality being determine by genes or otherwise. Lots of unknowns there, mostly because of the religious dogmas all these decades made it not an easy topic to be research.
-
There’s plenty of evidence that sexual orientation is influenced by biology and environmental factors. You can pick up a gen psych book and read it for yourself in the developmental chapter

-
Well if she or someone else like her would to ever take this to court, it would be an interesting case. Still not sure if your textbook could help her win he case in court. Maybe one day we will find out.

Well I say she is better off taking her teaching skills elsewhere than being at an institution that is full of hate. Love is beautiful and should be shared and adored.pic.twitter.com/03n9jWN0Vj

If the pope & God can love & accept gay people then why can't Catholics? There's no reason to discriminate against gay people. God created gay, loves all his children & makes no mistakes. Anyone that feels otherwise isn't a true Christian or Catholic.
-
List of things Catholics hate: Gays, Masturbators, Women, Non-Catholic Christians, Minorities, Other Religions, Poor People, Disabled people, God, Jesus, Other Catholics, animals, the World.....

Who that girl is married to has absolutely no bearing on how she does her job
-
It’s a catholic school. Beliefs are part of the equation
-
Then they should read the Bible for it plainly says in there judge not lest ye be judged with the same judgment they judge that girl on the way she choose to live her life and only God gets the judge that
