So now Facebook believes they are capable of deciding what is "real news" and what is "fake news"? This platform is on a death march. @sxsw here is a late David Carr Prize entry!
Did you actually read the post? Because it actually says the very opposite of what you think it says.
Not saying it's a good idea, either way, but he explicitly states they're not comfortable with making that call.
Not comfortable - yet making it anyway.
context: Sunday I commented on article by @Gannett @GannettAlbany and tagged the Chief Editor of @DandC (Karen Magnuson) who reacted by raging and then blocking. A regular citizen with an opinion expressed. FB will decide the pub is "real news". I disagree given the experience.
Wait, though, what are you saying, that people shouldn't be allowed to block others?
No. Not at all. If someone is calling a person names etc. absolutely. In context of Real news or fake news, I am addressing the chief editor of a local daily newspaper attacking a regular consumer and citizen who expresses an opinion. In context of real or fake news. Happy Friday
Ah, OK, that wasn't completely clear. But then again, what would you want FB to do in this case? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
WHAT is Facebook doing? The community will determine? FB will end up destroying itself with bad decisions like this. Where are the adults?
It's all BS. Just a way for them to keep all those high dollar ads and then blame it on their users.
Interesting. @facebook the algorithmic source of cocooning cognitive biases who received payment from purveyors of misinformation is now the finder of fact and trustworthy information. #Paradox #ToTheHighestBidder #WeCanDoBetter
Great Idea but 'There are so many Fake Accounts(BOT Accounts Paid For By Outside Influences To Corrupt Such OnLine Questionaires)What if Your Stats End Being Falsified BC of these BOTS Answering Questions Moronically?! How could your company be sure this is not the case?'
Wondered something similar. All the right wingers will say the Washington Post (and other real news) isn't trustworthy, and so the rest will say Fox and Alex Jones aren't trustworthy. So, it'll be a wash, that provides no benefit. Aside from Facebook pretending to do something.
When folks grow a pair and disconnect from FB, #MarkZukerberg will fade away.
i don't sign into facebook for 'news' i gofor friends or updates or changes to their plans
Because the multibillion dollar corporation doesn't want the responsibility? #capitalismsucks
There is a "community" of Russian bots pushing for the release of a spurious memo, how would that be handled on their platform?
Hmmmm............. If there is a (Real) Memo and someone Feels it needs to Be Released to the the Public for Clarity........... Would they actually be Bots, or concerned citizens?
Are they Bots or are you a Defensive Bot?
What an existential question. But the memo is misleading nonsense typical of Nunes and these may be citizens pushing the memo, but not ones of this country.http://www.businessinsider.com/release-the-memo-campaign-russia-linked-twitter-accounts-2018-1 …
