IF YOU SEE ICE LIKE THIS, DO NOT VENTURE ONTO IT!!! That ice is very thin, and potentially dangerous/fatal. Thankfully, they are wearing life preservers and using ropes. ABC should probably not give unknowing viewers bad ideas like this. Signed, A frozen Wisconsin resident

I walked out on that and trust me, a human can't break that
-
You miss the point. No ice is ever truly safe, and people with less experience, in areas that aren't used to freezing, can't be lured by a false sense of security and "beautifully awesomeness" only to then fall through and get injured or die.
-
Additionally, the same ice that was safe yesterday might not be today, especially in a body of water with currents, changing crack patterns etc. My state has over 15k lakes, including 2 Great Lakes, and hasn't had a day over 20 degrees in nearly a month.
-
And you still aren't wise to go on the ice without checking with your local ice fishing club first. Every year accidents happen and people, snowmobiles, shanties and vehicles fall through. Be safe

That looks pretty sketchy idk about you but as a father I don't think it would be wise for your kids to just skate freely over ice there is always that possibility of the ice to break and collapse just saying
-
I live less than 30 mins away from the reservoir and it’s been pretty warm for December so ya, with the temps and glassiness? I would not have trusted that.

That's unreal scenery

Random knowledge of the area. The mountain range in front as they skate? Its part of the same mountains Paramount Pictures iconic title card uses. Also there’s a ski resort there that was part of the 2002 Winter Olympics in the same range. Snowbasin. :)
-
You live in that area?
-
Yes sir. Spend my summers up there lol.
-
Beautiful country
-
It’s an amazing area for sure. :)

Yes, a snapping turtle, scared me because I scared it when walking on the pond. It was moving all around under the ice trying to hide from me.
