Pragmatically thinking, would you rather have a moderate Dem in that seat, or a hard-right Republican? It's just not going to be a progressive senator in Alabama anytime soon. If we want to keep that seat, we have to understand the reality.

True. And he should, but his voters that put him over the top should expect to be considered. If not, I hope they mobilize against him just like they did to put him over the top.

His job now is to represent EVERYONE in Alabama, not just those who voted for him. At the same time, that rule SHOULD apply to all levels of our elected officials. It's a nice thought at least...

Perhaps, and the same applies to past presidents, current sitting politicians, etc. Let's not pretend that politicians in the past haven't stoked the fires by turning the citizens against each other.
