Did the kid break the law? Yes. What is more disturbing is the Police didn't have their car locked. This is 100% that officers fault.
-
There are 2 distinct faults here: The cop for leaving his car unlocked but also the kid is walking around breaking into OTHER peoples cars. One doesn't "allow" the other.
-
Actually, if you leave your car unlocked with a gun in it, that is the definition of allowing it.
-
Feel free to cite a legal source that says that. The fact is: the car and its contents are city property so no...you are not 'allowing' anyone access to it. What a silly concept: unlocked cars = you are ALLOWED to take something from it?
-
But it does seem like they are offering an open invitation, since it happens so often.https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/troubleshooters/national-investigations/Missing-Pieces-More-Than-350-Firearms-Lost-or-Stolen-From-DC-Area-Police-Since-2011-459196943.html …
-
Very true. I hate to see laziness on the PD's part to not lock their cars. But it is not "allowing" anything either. (maybe I'm just being pedantic on the whole allowing thing, per my previous post)

Did I read this right, the car was left unlocked?
@ABC did you refer to the 16 year old as a man? The police are still looking for the stolen items, although the kid turned himself in. So, essentially the kid has fenced an AR-15 and ammo. Florida...you did it again.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Will the police be facing any disciplinary action? He could have been killed or gotten someone else killed

Even tho this kid had no right to do this I want to know why this door was not locked? Seems to me when you have a weapon in
-
Sorry need to finish above tweet: a car you would lock the doors or take it out

The officer and department hold some responsibility in this matter. This is insanely negligent of them.

Parked police vehicles are extreme targets of theft. Thats the main reason I don’t like taking them home.
-
I don’t want to come off like I am anti police cause I am certainly not, I just don’t agree with most taking them home.

Always looking to blame cops is why we have so many problems in America

May be it was a sting to see if the kid would steal from the police car
