Removing these statues does not change history. Keeping them allows us to remember history. Forgetting it puts us at risk of repeating it.

You can remember history when you go to a museum. Germany didn't keep Nazi regalia up after WW2.

I think its time to sweep the nation and remove all confederate statues. White Supremacy and it's false Gods have no place in America.
-
As a history buff you should know the importance of these works of art they want to take down.
-
I do but at the same time, the South lost. And although these were some fantastic leaders, what they stood for isn't American.
-
But why remove history, its bad enough they don't teach it in school anymore.
-
I learned about slavery while studying American History in college. It was much more in depth. Even took a history of Africa class.

If they where up because of history yes but I don't recall any Hitler's stayed up. Besides our history didn't kill millions of Jews.

Good. Remove them all. They are now a threat to our Democracy
-
The only threat to our Democracy is thinking that a statue is going to change history. Problem is in doing so we're beginning to repeat it.
-
I agree. Statues don't change history. Statues are an omage and represent both history's good and evil. Removing the statue was an excuse
-
An excuse for white supremacists to unite in efforts to destroy democracy

Why remove them? Gonna get rid of Lincoln statue as well- he actually supported slavery? Part of U.S history. Keep em so people can learn!
-
But there isn't a Confederate States of America. Last o checked the South lost. It's just that time to actually move on
