I personally do not think it should be removed as it's a reminder of the darkest days of our history.

History books don't just set themselves on fire when statues of traitors are taken down.

You're absolutely right, they don't set themselves on fire, fire it set onto them. I view this statue as a past to never repeat.

So you believe the US was wrong to topple the statue of Saddam in Iraq?

US had no RIGHT to be in Iraq to start with let alone topple a statue,, period!

Erasing the past will not undo the unjust that was done. If man is not reminded of his past, he's bound to repeat it!

I'm glad they are being removed and should be put into a museum to show future generations what we once were and overcame.

What's next? Removing pages from our history books about slavery? The butcher of Natives? Trail of tears?

They're not destroying them, they are removing them and they will most likely be sent to Museums or Universities.

Because, you know, most people will walk into a museum or a university as opposed to public viewing?

We have plenty of specialized museums that people attend on a daily basis. Holocaust museum, Air and Space Museum just to name two.

It's not the same as public viewing in an open square, but, you know this.

Sorry, I don't think the leaders of an armed rebellion against our nation should be displayed in a public square. There are plenty of pieces

It's a part of our history to learn & grow from. Sad they are dismantling history. Hopefully it remains part of our history books & classes
