Also, who doesn't stop their car, look at vehicular damage for an insurance claim, and see if what you "think" you hit is still alive? Not like he ran over a squirrel or even a raccoon. He stated he hit a deer. That's a sizeable animal.

Sounds like I heard that story before on some detective show! Do you call the law when you hit a deer?

I grew up in a rural area. Everyone would call the police if they struck a deer, especially if still alive. Generally it was to get someone there to finish the animal, or salvage the body for meat, if possible. Also, accident report for insurance claims.
