I have seen a video of the chief of critical care services (may not be the actual title) of a dr on Long Island discussing this. He called them “happy hypoxics” because their oxygen levels are low but they don’t seem affected by it. Look up the term.

That’s why one should have home pulse oximeter- cost 39 bucks at Walgreens. Measure oxygen level at home. Go to hospital when falling below 90 in most people. Not including COPD/ smokers.
