Single payer plans are a part of a larger system of healthcare. The problem is that the idea that the 170 million people covered by private insurance are just going to give this up is naive. Health insurance is a major part of compensation in most professions.

That's the problem, people stay in jobs they dislike because of this. It's a way for employers to hold employees hostage.

In the same way the ACA was supposed to lower costs for the average family? Why post a bullshit headline? Everyone knows nothing is free! What will pay for the massive bureaucracy to administer it?

Hold on....they had a STUDENT as lead author on this? You couldn’t get a healthcare policy expert to lead this work? Healthcare super complicated. Nobody else sees an issue with “Chris from your class” putting this together to shape national policy?pic.twitter.com/I2hxgyFjrS

Single payer will not save money. Taxes would have to be raised to cover the expenses. All the workers in the private insurance sector would lose their jobs, (thousands unemployed).
-
! They would also need to reduce the number of facilities such as medical labs, imaging, PT, etc to reduce costs, thereby limiting access.
