I have felt the pain of burying my child but guns are not the issue. This was a hand gun and California has some of the strictest gun laws. Attached is an article about the growing trend of people using cars as weapons. Are we going to ban cars???https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2017/03/22/world/vehicles-as-weapons/index.html …

Cant agree more. Gun control will do absolutely nothing but start a black market with easier access. If its not guns, its bombs or other weapons. If your crazy enough to shoot up places, you are going to find a way to do it or obtain whatever you have to. We cant predict crazy
-
Imagine the penalty for getting caught having a black market gun? 30+ years in jail. Mandatory.
-
There is already mandatory time for felons, they don’t care that’s why they’re criminals.
-
They’re on the right track. Time to step it up and expand the penalty. Pretty sure they can come up with a killer plan. No pun intended.
-
The problem is most of the shooters have no record, young and crazy. Most of them have had family members warn the authorities months even years before. The kid in Florida stated to family he was gonna be a school shooter, apparently that wasn’t enough for them.
-
Tough thing to deal with without infringing on the freedoms of people with clean records.
-
Your right there isn’t an easy fix, everyone is quick to say more laws. But if they aren’t following the ones we have I just don’t see what adding laws does.

My heart goes out to her. But--California has among the strictest gun control laws in the country and this monster still found a way. Evil always finds a way
-
Gun control is not a state issue. It is well known that one can circumvent state laws by purchasing from a neighboring state, etc. If you want effective gun laws look at any developed western country. US is the only major country that has this problem.
-
Those other western countries have had strict gun restrictions since the beginning. It is too late for the US, there are more 300 million guns in circulation. You restrict guns now, you only restrict them from law abiding citizens and leave them vulnerable.
-
https://www.vox.com/2015/8/27/9212725/australia-buyback … When you put reasonable rules on gun sales nationally you will see these massacre numbers dwindle. Until then good luck with the vacuous arguments based on "law abiding citizens owning guns" or "owning guns to keep the state in check" etc.
-
Your argue for "reasonable" gun rules then you link an article on confiscation. Which is it? Do you stand for reasonable rules - there MAY be some room for compromise there, or radical rules such as confiscation - no room for compromise on that?
-
The simplest starting point is to address the differences pointed out in the following article:https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/03/02/world/international-gun-laws.html …
-
I don’t wish to address those differences. Much beyond the INSTANT (key on instant) part start to approach infringement of constitutional liberty.

Can’t blame her for saying this. And I don’t think the media forced her to say this. She’s in the throes of unbelievable grief right now and looking to channel it into something meaningful.
