What about drunk driving? Overdose deaths? This list can go on and on with over 300 Million Americans

Whataboutism is cool. We have laws against drunk driving. People break them people get punished. We also legislate cars and require insurance. Doesn't stop the fact that bullets flying through the air suck and are pointless. Cars are a necessity and overdoses are a choice.

250,000+ deaths due to medical malpractice. What laws should be put in place to prevent those deaths? How would you reduce THIS number?

33,000 deaths due to guns every year. 21,000 are suicide 2500 are accidental So, 9500 murders involving guns every year. Only 800-1000 on average are due to "legal" guns (legally purchased, and permitted ). Also interesting is that 8000 are from common hunting rifles/shotguns.

538 is a data aggregating outlet who put spin on numbers. Stop treating them as anything more.

This is a bullshit number because they include suicides and try to make gun homicides seem more then they really are.

Mental illness caused the shooter in Thousand Oaks to act out. He was a 5150 who slipped through the cracks. The military needs to do a better job with their possible nut jobs.

With such a wide range to add, I wonder if
@FiveThirtyEight could do same for vehicle deaths. Add drunk drivers as well as non drunk deaths.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

It's really easy to say lost lives are the cost of freedom when you aren't footing the bill.

Sadly you can never stop one person from killing another individual. Gun or no gun. Just a gun makes it so much easier to do.

NOTHING will bring that number down unless USA accepts some form of sensible gun control. Worship of the gun & the Almighty Dollar, and misinterpretation of the 2nd Amendment...will forever prevent gun death numbers from declining.
-
Please describe "sensible gun control", and EXACTLY how it will help.
-
Ok the US used to have a ban on military grade and high powered guns...just have a quick guess when that was revoked
