“We listened to our critics, thought hard about what we wanted to do, and decided we want to lead,” Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos says as company announces plans to raise its minimum wage to $15 for all U.S. employees. http://abcn.ws/2NUu3ep pic.twitter.com/LMyX26Og63

MORE: Amazon says the wage will benefit more than 250,000 of the company's employees, and another 100,000 seasonal employees. The federal minimum wage for the U.S. is currently $7.25.https://abcn.ws/2O04CYU

Others should follow suit, when a company boast of hitting a 3 billion profit guess who got you there.

Employees that voluntarily agreed upon a wage based on the value they brought to the employer instead of some arbitrarily set number. @Amazon has jobs postings throughout the country. $15/hr in Winchester, KY is different than $15 in Portland, OR. Econ 101 stuff.

People can never be happy, even with a little positive change. 🙄 #econ101 Something is something. I live in California ang get payed minimum wage at $11. $15 would be great news to me if I worked for the company!

Of course a 36% increase "would be great news". But why not $20 or $30/hr? Especially if you live in a city with higher cost of living. But something tells me my poins about an employee's value vs an arbitrary idea of "living wage" & varying cost of living are over your head.

That’s great, but if they’re still at risk of losing their jobs for taking too long in the bathroom some changes still need to happen. I mean a few extra bucks is nice, but being treated like a human being is nicer.

Its like a sweat shop, and this benefits enrollment period is gonna eat up every dime earned. Every year we get a raise and every year, I never see it.....I'm at 17 an hour and have yet to see its worth, because everything goes up up up an up

I did contract work for amazon for a few years. The moral in the distribution centers is pretty low, they overwork their employees and treat them like shit. I felt bad for the people that worked there.

I worked on two different FC's in Phoenix. Through the worst of the summer too. And pulled through a peak season too. It sucked and I will never go back. I can handle hard work - I've worked in Alaska. But when a company doesn't care about your well being, etc... That's it. Done.

Workers at warehouses having to camp outside to cope with hours, workers having to be on gov assistance because even with the long hours they can’t make ends meet. Just terrible worker conditions and shady dealings. Bezos isn’t a criminal that I know of, just a jerk.
