I am a woman and I have been sexually abused. I still support Kavanaugh. When there is no proof the presumption of innocence should always go to the accused.

What about actually having an investigation first, to see if there's any proof? I feel that's fair, no? Also the man obviously lied under oath. He lied about what a devil's triangle is. He lied about the meaning of boofing. He's definitely lied that he's never blacked out.
-
I agree about the investigation. It could have been done when the allegation first came to light (in July). Would have saved a lot of time/pain. And I had never heard of devil's triangle or boofing before yesterday. Who knows, maybe they had different meanings to other people?
-
And do you have proof that he lied about blacking out? Wouldn't Kavanaugh know his history better than you?
-
I recall once reading a speech or testimony where he described once "piecing together what happened the night before", and as I recall it was heavily implied he blacked out. I admit I can't locate the source now. I know, meaningless. I feel the man has no credibility, sadly :(
-
I also have to say I tend to believe that Dr. Ford was assaulted at some point in her life. She did seem credible as far as that. However, this specific incident has too many murky details. And there are so many other things that are suspect, namely the timing of the allegation.
-
What I don't understand is why the GOP won't just, idk, play fair. Why can't we have a supreme court that's 4 liberals, 4 conservatives, & a swing vote, so that the effect on actual humans isn't lost to competing ideologies? Dems went moderate with Garland. Why can't Reps do it?
-
They should all be completely independent. Politics should have nothing to do with the Judiciary. Dems had to go moderate with Garland because it was a Rep majority. They're trying to go with the person they think will be confirmed.

I support him and have had my own horrific experiences with assault. Don’t generalize .
-
And if I called you a liar & every degrading name out there. If I swore you were just using your sexuality to trap some man & on the extreme chance that you weren't lying, you brought it on yourself would make me a horrible person. Yet here we are, reading those comments..
-
I see what you are trying to do, and I’m not taking the bait. There are decent people in this discussion who think for themselves and don’t stoop to those levels. And in my words, ask not to be generalized.
-
Ma'am I'm not "trying" to do anything but hold up a mirror. You can look away at any time. I don't want you living in a world where the benefit of doubt is given to your alleged abuser. We both can point to anecdotal evidence of "decent people", doesn't change the narrative.

Someone told me yesterday that women ought to keep their mouths shut about stuff that happened years ago. Disagree big time. We need to start talking and keep talking. Talking in the present is only route to heal past injuries and possibly prevent future ones. Needed to share

She’s 100% correct. But I’d add this. We’ve seen what the GOP was ready to do and we took names. We will not forget that they were willing to throw us ALL under the bus to keep the all boys club together. WE WILL NOT FORGET YOU!
