Kinda hard when they swim right at you lol. Good thing he didn't tip them

If they stayed at the required distance and then did not continue to chase/drive straight towards the whale there would not be a problem.
-
I had an Orca come up to 100 yds from my sailboat, dive, and surface 3 feet off the bow. My boat does 5 knots. The Orca does 20-30 when it wants to. It has control.
-
1. That whale is not an orca. We aren’t talking about orcas. 2. If you watch the video the boat is moving towards the whale. 3. The whale is going on a deeper dive meaning that it should have surfaced for a few seconds alerting the people to either stay put or back up

I was traveling on a straight course at 5 knots. The Orcas intercepted me. They have encounter control against slow vessels.
-
The boat those people are on is zippy and definitely not slow. Honestly not an excuse for them in my opinion.
-
While the boat is capable of high speed, it is not moving fast in the encounter. With the video provided, one can’t tell whether they were violating the space before the tail comes up.

It's a fluke that they never capsized.

At least our whales are protecting us from migrant rafts. So there’s that.

I don’t think the whale knows distance, they kinda swim around and such
-
It’s saying for boats to keep the distance from the whales...
-
Yes and the whales are swimming around. I went whale watching for school. We had several boats and ours had a humpback come right next to us. You can’t predict where they come up.
