Not defending the car driver but it looks like the stop sign on the bus didn’t deploy. I can’t see the lights on top of the bus because of the stamp.
-
I’m a school bus driver in Toronto area. We are trained to deploy lights & sign 100yds prior to stop. Still, I’ve had drivers run them daily for 5+ years. No excuse for that....period.
-
Absolutely. Lots going on here: sign is Not deployed and oncoming traffic can’t see it, kid doesn’t look both ways, grown up seems uninterested in kids safety. I would as a parent make sure no cars were coming because of exactly what you wrote. Car was careless.
-
Stop sign lights flashing, which means overheads are too. Look again.
-
The lights are flashing but the sign is still up against the bus. The time date stamp in the video is covering the top of the bus so the lights are not visible. My original tweet said - first line -I’m not defending the driver of the car. A

I realize that. If you watch closely as bus comes into frame. It looks like lights are on, but don’t care. My lights & sign were always deployed, yet some drivers still ignore them. Sad

Everyone is at fault here. The kid is lucky to escape that.

Great job watching the boys mom! You couldn't tell a car was coming that looked like it might not stop?
-
You can’t blame on the Mom. It’s the blue car driver to be blamed. He/she should’ve stopped at least several cars space apart from the school bus by law. It will be $5000 fine if you drive thru when school bus put up a “stop” sign.
-
I realize it’s the driver’s fault. Obviously! The mom didn’t even flinch!!!!

The stop sign on the bus didn't deploy but that's no excuse.
-
I was curious about that too. We’re lights flashing? I couldn’t tell.
-
The lights were flashing so the lights on the front of the bus should have warned the driver who was no doubt using a cell phone.
