Steven Tyler sends another cease and desist letter to Pres. Trump, demanding the president stop playing Aerosmith music at his rallies. "Mr. Trump does not have any right to use the name, image, voice or likeness of our client," the letter says. https://abcn.ws/2wlo7zx pic.twitter.com/sB4FDWBlUW

Steve Tyler you are in the right. Sue him and him up. You will have to get in line though.

So if I play an Aerosmith album at a party I need to be sued too? This is just ridiculous. Maybe Mr. Tyler should realize that Trump supporters also buy his albums.

Only if you are trying to profit from his music. Think about it TV shows can’t sing Happy Birthday with out paying for it. Copyright laws are a bitch!

Playing a song at a rally is no different than playing one at a football game.

It's very different if the song owner decides. The only time it would be no different is if the song owner decided they didn't want the song used at either one.

If the organizer of the rally bought the album, then it would fall under the First Sale Doctrine. They could play it where they choose. They can resell it. It belongs to the buyer as the artist has been paid for it.

You are incorrect. They would own a copy of the music, not the rights to the music. You can't just use the music for whatever you want.

#tbt Today Steven Tyler of #Aerosmith doesn’t want any of his music being played at @realDonaldTrump rallies! So I’m guessing Steven Tyler doesn’t want anyone to see this photo taken from 2014, it would be a shame if people SHARED it ! 😉😂😂pic.twitter.com/d51Pk2D5Ot

Sampling is legal. Ask any rapper. And if sampling is legal, it’s legal for everyone.

There’s a difference between sampling sounds from a song and playing it as it was produced by the original artists. Regardless, rappers need permission to use samples for any sounds used from songs still covered by copyright laws, usually 70 years after production🤦🏻‍♂️
