I guess my mom was ahead of the times. My brother & I had to choose what we really wanted to watch as we were only allowed 1 hour a day of television. Instead we played a lot of monopoly, learned paint & draw. I sewed clothes for my Barbies. All this instead of TV time.

Kids start learning to read before six. Increasingly they'll need to lean to code to, starting sooner is better. How might you suggest they do that without a screen?
-
Sorry. That’s nonsense. This is talking about kids who use a screen from 3 months and grow up attached to a game or show. There are ways for them to be used for leaning, that’s not what this is talking about.
-
The tagline literally say no more than 1 hour a day under six. Doesn't specify learning or otherwise. If that is entirely misrepresentative of the article, then they should change the tag line.
-
I think the issue is that kids spend more time interacting with a screen and not with humans. It has had an impact on learning, and not just the academic kind. Clearly, there are a people who can't appropriately interact with others. If you can't do that, you can't get a job....
-
I hear you, and at the same time, my company needs coders, they need programers, and software engineers... and we are a manufacturing company, not an IT company. Soft skills are nice, but dang does the economy need coding skills.

Quotes form the article “The patterns of screen-based media use and their long-term effects on children and teens just aren’t known yet” and “The connections linking screen time to cardiovascular health and obesity are unclear”

Lol! I'd get that much TV in as a child before my cereal was finished. Then as a young adult it was video games. Wtf is this study?

Doc, nobody's gonna ever listen to ya if you keep telling people what to do. Ya gotta keep your mind your secret, or you'll wind up a martyr.

Using a screen is a learned behavior. Don’t want kids to use them, don’t give them access when they are babies. You’re the parent!
