After hundreds of blast-offs, the historic 200-foot launch towers at Cape Canaveral have been demolished in a planned explosion. The first launch on this site was back in 1957 and the last was a Delta II rocket in 2011. https://abcn.ws/2Nc7dKh pic.twitter.com/RLqU8m41UA

If those aren’t historic landmarks i don’t understand the whole point of having historic landmarks. No way that should have happened. They just destroyed history.

Should have made it a historical sight.. but what other history is gone?

I am sad to see such great iconic history being brought down.

Why? I don't see them reporting what is actually happening, but they are building a test facility there for the new Moon program. Out with old and in with new.

Should put a plaque or small monument there at least. We learn, honor and respect much of our past history , while moving ahead to the future.

NASA isn't about history. It's about the future. But there is plenty of that at KSC. But this will be a major test facility of the new Moon program. I'm sure they will have areas open to public... and a plaque...LOL

Perhaps what? You know there are about 40 abandoned launch pads at KSC. You can take a bus tour of them. Not rare.

KSC is a great place for a family vacation. The space museum there is better than Disney IMHO. And right next to beach. I'd stay there (Cocoa Beach) and drive to Disney for the day.

As someone who had eagerly watched blast-offs and splash-downs in the 60's and 70's, I find this kind of sad.

It's sad to see this in my hometown. I watched so many launches throughout my childhood and brought my children back to see a couple. Piece of history gone.

I'm saddened to see them destroyed, they were a national landmark. Hopefully they will be replaced with upgraded facilities sometime in the distant future.
