Yes. I believe Dems were running the country at that time.

-
And Republicans are running the country now. It wasn't right then. Isn't right now.
-
Except it is not happening now. Truly we are not keeping people out like that. If we were, there would not be people detained. And we are working on giving asylum to those who need it, and keeping kids safe from human trafficking, among other things. NOT the same thing.
-
Let's say some people attempting to cross the boarder are in human trafficking. What about the innocent families out running violence who have no history or ties to criminal activity? Who are being deported and leaving kids behind forced to defend themselves in court?
-
It's not the exact same situation, no. But there are parts of this system that are unlawful and inhuman, especially when innocent families are being caught in the crossfire and few actual criminals being stopped.
-
So how do we stop those using children in human trafficking? How many teenage (younger) sex slaves are acceptable tomake it easier for those wanting asylum? There is a process for asylum, & we should grant it to those legally seeking who deserve. Just follow the law.
-
That would be the constitutionally required “DUE PROCESS” that Trump want to ignore. It is for ALL people in the US, not just citizens. The Constitution is very clear about that. Why aren’t all the 2A people upset about this unconstitutional attempt by POTUS?
-
We are. What we don't want is just letting people in who ILLEGALLY want in. And, please remember, this was started under Bill Clinton, then Bush, then Obama, now Trump. Where was everyone previously. Trump tried to follow law, to get Congress to CHANGE a bad law.

There's not only fake news, there's also ridiculous news.

You can’t always call news you don’t agree with “fake”, mate

This is hearsay anyway. Quite using propaganda like this to fuel the fire.

Frank tried to emigrate. Fact. In 1938, the US had a quota of 27,370 immigration visas for Germans. Fact. In June 1939, 309,782 Germans were on the waiting list for a visa, meaning the Franks would've likely waited years before even securing an interview at the consulate. Fact.
-
What does this have to do with today? So we should have open borders?! We can’t even take care of who’s here but yeh...let’s make things worse. Done with it.
-
I never made an argument about the current situation. I liked a tweet so I could read more about it later, and you replied to it. You might not like the facts, but they're stubborn things. The virtue of the WW2 policy was not argued nor was any virtue of 45's "policy" argued.
-
I understand there were waiting lists. My point is why people would use this now. And the article can’t even confirm just says research shows it’s likely. Articles like this aren’t needed right now imo. And that really wasn’t @ you. I was more irritated with that other person.
-
It's good to question timing, but I think you are being too sensitive about this. Who's to say 45 won't keep up with his "policies" -- and then for the next 6 years, when would be an ok time to publish such findings?? And when an article is lacking, gts!https://apnews.com/2e514f1f5588466c90d49d47fe592bce …
-
There’s too many variables to try to compare this with today. This was during a war. regardless, a country has to have border control & laws. I refuse to think open borders is a good idea. Ever. I think throwing out articles like the one to try & compare to now is ridiculous.
-
No comparisons were made. *You* are conflating the two. And I've seen no arguments, even from the looney left, for open borders. I'm sure some want it, but some people also think Marxism is possible, and we all know the truth to that.

I knew this in the 70s. They were turned down and they died. Not fake.
