Doesn’t matter who implemented this policy- ethically, morally, it’s wrong. It’s not who we are. If a family arrives illegally, why must they be separated? If the law says send them back then keep them together and send them back together.
-
Also keep in mind, those separations were occurring because it's ethically wrong to imprison a child when their parent is the one committing the crime. These adults are being jailed because they broke the law, entering illegally. After time served, they typically get reunited.
-
Must be a better way

There is. There are over a dozen US Consuls located in Mexico. https://mx.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/find-your-consular-location/ … Here is a list of phone numbers addresses and other pertinent information. You would be surprised how many of these "destitute" arrive with smartphones.
-
I’m sensing most of these families are not Mexican, but rather Central American (Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua)

Families are being separated temporarily so that the parents go through a different process, because unlike their children they have committed a serious crime and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law(probably unlikely in liberal America though).

Tilman... please read the law before writing lies. Educate yourself with facts and stop spreading ignorance.
-
I have read the law a misdemeanor is a serious crime. Illegally going into any country is a SERIOUS crime.
-
You obviously don’t. An example of a misdemeanor is public intoxication. These people are refugees. Seeking asylum is not illegal. It is immoral to take their children away. Nice try.
-
I welcome people to seek asylum in our country... the legal way. THEY ARE BEING REUNITED. btw it took you a minute to look up what a misdemeanor is

-
Do you understand the concept of seeking asylum? It's literally showing up at the door, unannounced, and saying please help me, I need safe harbor from the hell place I just left because my life and my kids' lives were in danger. That is asylum. That IS legal internationally.
