In what way? How would a wheelchair user get up those steps? What gives me hope for the future is ramps. If you want to help disabled people then help us campaign for accessibility.

Accessibility should be main issue I agree but a child carrying a beautiful heart and parents encouraging him is what gives me hope for humanity.

Along with a complete stranger videoing a disabled person, without their permission, and then uploading it. It’s stuff like this that I fear every time I go out in public and stand up from my wheelchair.

Someone is raising him to be kind and respectful. We could use more of that. It’s a lesson many in our country could use...all the way to the top!!! My hat is off to this young gentleman.

Actions speak much louder than any words. Pledge to help 1 person a day. One simple act of kindness..If we all do it ..imagine what a better place this world would be. #bekind

There should be a ramp there. It is unacceptable that disabled people have to rely on random acts of kindness to go about their daily lives. We don‘t exist for abled people to feel good about themselves when they are ‚helping‘ us. We deserve the same rights as them.

While I agree with you that there *should* be a ramp there, until one is installed, wouldn't it be best to thank people for helping you up the steps, instead of getting irrationally angry at them for trying to help out? It's not like that boy was doing anything wrong, after all.

the ADA was passed 28 years ago. why do disabled people still have to be nice and polite in the face of blatant disregard for federal law?

Because there are often zoning reasons or cost reasons why ramps can't be added in certain places. The world is never going to revolve around us disabled people, so stop expecting it to.
