President Trump issued an executive order (EO 13950) that prohibits federal agencies, contractors, and grant recipients from discussing concepts like structural racism and white privilege and promises retaliation if they do. EO 13950 also prohibits these individuals from discussing America's history of racism and violence, or otherwise suggesting that "the United States is fundamentally racist or sexist." The people who spend their time complaining about "cancel culture" have been awfully quiet.
This is part of a broader right-wing attack on critical thought and speech. Scholars, activists, and civil rights orgs are being targeted, harassed, silenced, or retaliated simply because they have the audacity to say what so many of us know: America is a deeply racist nation.

We should be talking about this much more. There were people who had their livelihoods destroyed overnight by this ban. Equally important is that all of us became "enemies of the state" for telling the truth and half the country is cool with that.
