It shouldn't have taken seeing Emmett Till's disfigured body to get white Northerners to care about the horrors of the Jim Crow South. It shouldn't take the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd, and Breonna Taylor to get people to care about Black lives and anti-Black violence.
