Does charging Amy Cooper bring us closer to justice? Closer to accountability? What she did was racist and dangerous. But does prosecuting and/or locking her up address why and how she was allowed to threaten Christian Cooper, and why that threat carried the weight it did?

One of the reasons why the Central Park incident was so disturbing was because Black people watching it instantly knew that if it hadn't been recorded, Christian Cooper very likely could've ended up arrested—or killed by police. Prosecuting Amy cooper does nothing to change that

The argument that prosecuting Amy Cooper may deter other white women from doing the same is appealing, but it's no different from the logic used to justify almost every other criminal penalty. And that logic has been used to lock up millions of Black people in this country.

Rejecting America's violent, racist criminal justice system requires us to reject the logic(s) that have been deployed to justify it. Locking someone up doesn't undo the harm that person has caused, and lots of evidence suggests it doesn't do much in the way of deterrence.

Typical bait and switch - look at what I did vs watch the incompetence in my other prosecutions. Cooper gets probation before adjucation
