Police officers should NEVER be responding to mental health calls. Having a social worker come along when officers storm into apartments, guns blazing, and further antagonize individuals who are in crisis is not the solution.

I was present in a situation where an ambulance had been called for a young lady who'd attempted suicide by pills. A cop came before ambulance arrived and started interrogating her. Very unhelpful, useless, and potentially harmful to criminalize her as he did.
