The best way to transition to support is by picking the easy CC champions (Leona/Nautilus/Alistar), learning about 3 wave slow pushes, and setting up level 6 / 10 minute (stopwatch) tower dives. Support is 10x easier when laning phase stops and you just dive towers.

Kinda feel bad for Keith, having to play Tahm Kench as a roleswapped player is almost impossible. The champion requires way too much understanding of the support role + execution around him to be useful.
