We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please stand by while I console myself with cookies.

  2. There *are* some really nice ones out there! But... not a bazillion. Definitely not a bazillion. So mostly, I'm just feeling less bad about my attempts, and further reminded of the confidence of mediocre men.

  3. So, we bought Gloomhaven, and hubs is teaching me to paint the miniatures. I'm not all that good at it, so I'm looking up how other people do it. Thinking, I'm gonna find a bazillion beautiful examples to learn from, and ideas, and stuff, right. Right?

My brain *did* break somewhere along the way; it used to work better than this. But we don't have good systems for broken brains, either. Not to "fix" them, not to adapt to them, and certainly not to recognize when they're changing.

And it really doesn't help if the thing you use to grok and solve your problems - your brain - is the thing that is broken. (NOTE: the quoted thread is not about broken brains. It's about broken systems that fail to support diverse brains. I have a different issue.)

  7. And that's b/c of a common problem those of us on run into before we grok our respective d/x: When someone asks us "Why can't you just [x]?" or says "You should be able to [y]," It doesn't occur to us that "I'm physically incapable of doing so" is an answer.

As a… – remote worker I want to… – give facebook access to four cameras strapped to my head so that… – I can simulate an in-person meeting that could have been an email

"The solution to access problems so often is to clear browser cache and cookies, but doing so is always complicated and hard to find! Browsers should have a big button in the top bar that looks like a toilet that you can click to flush the cookies." -- a colleague from a meeting

CORNELL: hello, faculty over whom I thought I had control even though I explicitly hired you for being irrepressibly outspoken in your field of expertise, what can i do for you today, and what are those knives for

Remote work has been a pretty standard "reasonable accommodation" at Cornell for like a decade. And that was *before* it was deployed university-wide for over a year. Sometimes I wonder if the muckity-mucks realize we have an ILR school full of badass labor experts.
